Houston Tour members made the trip to Hilton Head, SC to compete in the 2009 Amateur Golf Tour's National Finals held October 24th & 25th.
David Anthony outlasted 120+ other "A" Flight competitors from around the Country who all came to Hilton Head trying to claim fame as the best in the "A" Flight. David shot a great round of 76 on the first day at The Robert Cupp course. The course was set up as difficult as it can possibly be set with pin placements in the toughest places possible. Players that played the course that day felt that 80 or 81 would be a great round. Of course everyone was talking about the first round leader would fail the second day under the pressure of leading the tournament, but David kept his cool and fired an excellent 77 on the second day at The Robert Trent Jones Course. David brought home the Crystal and $750.00 in prizes. David has already stated that the Championship Flight will be his next year.
Lynn Cormier made the trip to Hilton Head to compete in the Championship flight. Lynn shot an excellent round the first day, posting a 73 which put him in the top ten going into day two. Day 2 for the Championship flight was played on the most difficult course on the Island, The Robert Cupp course. Lynn fired an 81 to finish in the top ten in the Championship flight and placed ninth overall.
First year tour player, Richard Peavy, qualified to make the trip to Hilton Head this year to represent the Houston Tour in the "C" Flight. Richard put together two solid rounds to take 2nd place in a field of 96 "C" Flight players from across the Country.
Lu Cormier qualified to represent Houston in the "D" Flight by placing second overall in the season long points race in Houston. Lu did very well by tying for tenth place out of 77 other "D" flight players from across the Country.
